We spent some time over the holiday break at Dunsborough, and after a chilly NYE in Bunbury at the Knights', we enjoyed the Southbound Festival in Busselton on Jan 2. Xavier Rudd was our fave for the day - the ultimate one man band. Sharif Galal was also fantastic in the DJ tent. We got there about 2pm and left at 11pm - not a bad effort for 8 mths PG.
33wks off to Southbound. 34 wks at home with Maddy.
Australia Day long weekend, we headed up to Moore River with a bunch of friends in a rented house overlooking the river. The persistant wind limited outside activities to the morning time, but there was plenty of great tennis action to watch, reading, napping and relaxing. We dressed up in 80's gear to celebrate Guy's 40th birthday.

We went down to Bunbury and enjoyed the Eagles Experience (Eagles tribute band) at Brookhampton Winery near Donnybrook on Feb 11. The next morning Sean and I swam with the dolphins at Koombana Bay, which was a fantastic experience. It's amazing to think these wild creatures are comfortable enough to swim up to humans most mornings. I think they sensed the baby inside me, as I had a mother and her calf constantly swim quite close to me.
Later that morning I picked oranges at the orchard - it was a busy day.

Sunday, Feb 12. After waking from a little nap at 3pm I felt a trickle of fluid and my tummy went tight. I thought my waters had broken, but there was no pain and no gush of fluid. I told mum and we went into the fruit and veg market, visited a friend of hers and were planning to stay the night and get up early to drive back to Perth. However by 6pm I was having moderate contractions, so phoned Sean on the golf course and told him to get home, that we were leaving for Perth that evening. We ended up having a BBQ dinner, and I don't think anyone realised how anxious I was to get in the car - we had a 2 hr trip ahead of us - as Sean was casually having 2nd rounds of dinner etc. Meanwhile I had packed the car and put a beach towel on the seat as I was leaking fluid with each contraction.
After an uncomfortable drive back to Perth, we dropped off Maddy, grabbed my hospital bag and arrived at St John of God Subiaco at 10 pm. I was checked at 10:30 pm and was 3 cm dilated. Things progressed fast from there, and by midnight I requested an epidural. The anaethetist took forever to get there, scrub up, prep my back etc, that I think I was already at 10 cm by the time he put the epi in, but I wanted relief and now! As soon as he was done, the nurse said start pushing. Bubs was almost out, but kept slipping back in. So after some vacuum, and handy scissors work (sorry if that's TMI) Jasper Theo Runkle was born at 1:25 am, Monday, Feb 13, 2006, weighing 5lb 14 oz (2650 kgs) and 49cm long.
We spent the rest of the night in wonderment of what had just happened (and tried to get a little sleep) but I was too wired for sleep and keep peeping over to the little thing in the perspex box next to me - amazing!

Here's Sean's email to everyone later that day.
Louise and I have welcomed into the world a brand new baby boy and his name is Jasper Theo. He already has a few nicknames but we will see what sticks. We were enjoying a nice weekend in Bunbury and were not expecting him to come 11 days early. Louise was still active all the way up to birth as we went to a concert on Saturday night with Dave & Jules and we swam with the dolphins on Sunday morning. I got the call whilst I was ready to tee off on the 16th hole and then had to make the mad dash back to Perth. We arrived at the hospital at 10pm and Jasper was born at 1:25am on Monday, 13th of February. He is a little taka and weighed in at 5lb 14oz (2.65kg) and is 19 inches (49cm) in length. Louise is doing great and we are looking forward to> sharing time with him and our friends and family. Lots of love, Sean, Louise, Jasper Theo and Maddy (can't forget about her)
Sleeping peacefully. Bakers delight. With grandma and awake!
Relaxing and awake. Going home day with daddy.

1st time at the beach - 2 wks old.
Well that's enough for this post. There will be plenty more Jasper pics in the months/years ahead. All in all, he's a great baby so far - sleeping a lot and eating and putting on weight. We are really enjoying parenthood so far and feel very blessed to have a healthy bub.
