July - Dec 05 Baby on the way

July 05 - Up the Duff!

Soon after returning from Bali, I found out I was pregnant. Yes after much deliberation and years of sitting on the fence about the parenthood thing, we had decided to start a family. However with all the Bintangs I'd drunk in Bali, I was worried the poor little thing was pickled from the start. Anyway it took a while for the reality of things to sink in. However I had an easy pregnancy and no morning sickness and was able to remain active all the way through.

My belly at 20 weeks. Hiking on the Bibbulmen Track

We went hiking for 2 days on the Bibbulmen track with Clint and Richard (and Maddy) for my birthday - Was 4 mths PG. I was only slightly more puffed than usual. At 3 mths PG at the end of August, I ran the City to Surf fun run (12 kms) in the pouring rain - I surprised myself that I was able to run the whole way - not fast, but a moderate pace.

I have some of the US pics somewhere - can't find them right now, might post later.

August 05
Sean's brother, Kevin, his wife Cheryl and our 2 nephews, TJ and Ben came to visit us from Calif in August. We took them to a Freo Dockers game and also down to Dunsborough. They also stayed a night at my folks place in Bunbury and drove down to Denmark. After 2 weeks, they hit Qld on the way home and all in all had a fab time. It was great to have them visit - the first family to come stay with us.

Sept 05
Sept is actually when we hiked the Bibb track. We also went camping at Dwellingup at the end of Sept (gotta get these activities in while we can). The weather was gorgeous. We did an 18 km hike one day and a shorter one the next. The camp site reminded us of camping in Calif - as the pine trees made for a nice change from the Australian scrubby bush surrounds.

Lunch stop on the hike, and Sean and Maddy back at camp.

We were very busy with some long overdue yardwork at our place. Firstly we removed the ugly pool fencing which was covered with overgrown vines and shrubs and was our front fence. We had a new brick fence built. Sean did a lot of hard work pulling down the old fence, a brickie built the fence and my brother Matt and Sean built the wooden slats in the new fence.

We also reshaped the garden beds, pulled out all the old limestone rocks and planted new plants in the front near the pool.
At the end of the month we saw Missy Higgins and Ben Lee in concert at the Supreme Court Gardens which was great.

Still feeling great with the pregnancy, getting lots and lots of kicks from bubs. Still going to the gym, cycling to work once a week and walking the dog every night. I'm not very big, which is a little concern to my Ob, but I'm not too worried, as I know my mum was small with me. Went to see Cat Empire at the Belvoir Ampitheatre at the end of the month and the same weekend went to Adrian and Mel's wedding in Margaret River.

Groom and bride. Our table at the wedding, wondering where is Kaz & Guy?

Wow, end of the year already. And not a very warm start to summer so far. We had the dogs Xmas party at our favourite dog park, Shirley Strickland Reserve. Maddy had a great time with all her friends and she got a new leash and toy from Secret Santa (aka another Sean).
Christmas morning we had lunch with Gran at her nursing home. See the great family pic with my aunt Judy and Helen. Christmas lunch was at my cousin, Melissa's house. What a fantastic spread she put on, replete with all the trimmings and decorations. She sure knows how to throw a party and entertain. We played games and even Maddy was invited. Not sure if she was invited to drink Sean's beer however.
